RESCHEDULE, NO SHOW, and the CANCELLATION AND REFUND Policies

The Reschedule Policy allows students to reschedule their course one time at no cost or be placed on a To Be Determined roster with a one year limit. A subsequent rescheduling will incur a $20 processing fee. No refunds are available after rescheduling and the amount paid remains as a credit.

The No Show Policy refers to students who have paid for a course and do not call ahead to reschedule or cancel and request a refund prior to the class according to each those policies. It is the students’ responsibility to call the office to alert GMEC that they cannot make the class. A student who does not contact GMEC to cancel their course or does not show up for the course will forfeit all fees paid. No Shows do not qualify for a refund or a reschedule. AHA BLS Provider Course (Provider & Update)

The AHA BLS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. In the instructor-led course, students are taught by fun and dedicated instructors who encourage students to participate in simulated in-hospital and out-of-hospital scenarios or depending on their area of expertise or community standing.

Course Completion Card: AHA BLS Provider Cards are awarded on the same day upon the successful completion of the AHA BLS exam, and is valid for 2 years.

Birth & Beyond is a California initiative to provide instructor driven training with class materials and uniquely designed agenda for Baby-Friendly™ didactic courses.

An increasing number of hospitals are applying for Baby-Friendly™ status, and are seeking nurses who have completed this approved 2-Day Lactation Course. The 16-hour workshop provides the relevant evidence, proper knowledge-base, and specialized skills participants will need to confidently support, establish and protect both early mother-infant attachment and breastfeeding in the hospital setting.

This course endeavors to highlight the personal tools necessary to enhance early parent-infant attachment, and equip families with the tools to better listen to and comprehend the language of the newborn. This course also retains a core emphasis on honoring the mother’s beliefs and choices of infant feeding.

The workshop was adapted from California Department of Public Health’s Birth and Beyond California Learner Workshop and updated to meet the staff training objectives required by Baby-Friendly USA™ for hospitals that are on the new 4-D Pathway to Baby-Friendly™ designation.
